With over six years of dedicated volunteer work, Arthur Fernandes has been driven by a passion for fostering strong, connected communities. As the Visionary Director of Badminton Mumbaikar’s and The Melbourne Locals, he has devoted himself to bringing people together and making a meaningful impact.
What started in 2021 as a small badminton group of six has flourished into a thriving community of over 700 members under Arthur’s leadership. More than just a sports club, Badminton Mumbaikar’s has become a home away from home—a place where individuals from diverse backgrounds connect, support one another, and build lifelong friendships.
Arthur’s passion for community stems from his own journey. Having faced the challenges of relocation and social isolation, he understands the profound need for connection.
This realization inspired him to establish The Melbourne Locals—a platform where people feel welcomed, valued, and empowered, ensuring no one has to face life’s journey alone.
His commitment to community impact goes even further. Arthur works closely with the esteemed Friends of The Children Foundation, actively participating in charity initiatives that align with The Melbourne Locals’ core mission of giving back. Through these efforts, he continues to create opportunities for people to come together, support one another, and make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
